Srinagar, July 8, 2025: Jammu and Kashmir is firmly on the road to tourism revival and regaining its status as a top destination for travelers, said Secretary Tourism Yasha Mudgal on Tuesday.
Speaking at the Tourism Secretaries’ Conference held in Srinagar, Mudgal said the participation of all states and Union Territories in the brainstorming session underscores national commitment toward strengthening India’s tourism landscape.
“This major event, supported by the Ministry of Tourism and attended by the Union Tourism Minister and the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K, sends a clear message — J&K is back as a preferred destination, not just for leisure, but across all tourism segments,” she said.
Commenting on the recent dip in arrivals following an isolated incident, Mudgal reassured that the tourism flow is rebounding. “A brief slump is natural, but with swift measures taken by the Hon’ble LG and senior officials, the situation has normalized. Tourists are returning,” she noted.
Key destinations such as Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam have once again begun to see steady footfall. “Tourists are arriving from across the country. We’re confident that we will soon match, if not surpass, last year’s numbers,” she added.
Mudgal also emphasized that large-scale events like this conference not only build confidence among stakeholders but also reaffirm Jammu and Kashmir’s image as a safe, welcoming, and vibrant travel destination.
“We’re committed to hosting more such events across the UT to further boost tourism and economic activity,” she concluded.
