SRINAGAR, November 5, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said that Jammu and Kashmir’s peace and progress are rooted in the sacrifices of countless individuals and guided by the timeless wisdom of India’s saints, who taught that “true peace is born of friendship, compassion, and dialogue.”
Addressing the International Symposium on Peace, People and Possibilities in J&K at SKICC, Srinagar, the LG said peace begins when people live with dignity, dialogue, and mutual respect.
“Peace means when every person can live freely, by choice, without fear or loss. It is visible today in the lives of ordinary citizens — in their dignity, work, and opportunities,” Sinha said.
He described the symposium’s theme, “Peace, People and Possibilities,” as a vision for J&K’s future, adding that “the voice of Dal Lake and the whisper of the Chinars will together influence peace.”
Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the LG said that what was once seen as impossible has now become reality.
“The sounds of guns have been replaced by the laughter of children and the hum of education. Roads, schools, and fields that once echoed with unrest now reflect growth and prosperity,” he remarked.
Sinha emphasised that peace must be protected by every citizen, recalling the sacrifices of soldiers, police personnel, and civilians who gave their lives for stability. “Their memory must guide our actions,” he said.
Urging the youth to reject radicalisation and drugs, the LG warned against those “still speaking the language of Pakistan-backed terrorists.” He called upon citizens to remain vigilant and uphold the spirit of unity that emerged after the Pulwama attack, which he said “sent a message of resilience to the world.”
“A society built on law, compassion, and dialogue always moves forward. The power of unity builds communities where creativity and innovation thrive,” Sinha concluded.
The event, attended by academics, diplomats, and peacebuilders, focused on exploring inclusive pathways for stability, youth empowerment, and sustained peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
