Srinagar, January 27, 2026 : The Kalantra–Kreeri–Srinagar road continues to remain completely blocked following heavy snowfall, causing widespread hardship for commuters and transport operators in north Kashmir.
The prolonged closure has severely disrupted daily life, affecting bus and sumo drivers, patients, government employees, students, and other residents who rely on the route for access to Srinagar. While authorities have restored traffic on the Gulmarg and Baramulla roads, no clearance work has yet been completed on the Kalantra–Kreeri stretch, a vital link for several localities.
Hundreds of commuters have been stranded, with patients struggling to reach hospitals on time and students and employees unable to attend classes and workplaces. Transport operators have reported mounting financial losses due to the suspension of vehicular movement.
Drivers and residents have expressed strong resentment over the delay, terming the situation alarming and unbearable for people dependent on the road. They have appealed to the MLA Baramulla and the district administration to intervene immediately and ensure swift restoration of the route.
Locals said the Kalantra–Kreeri–Srinagar road is a lifeline for thousands of people, and any further delay in snow clearance is only compounding public suffering.
