Kishtwar, Aug 11, 2025 : Security forces on Monday intensified a massive search in Bhagna forest after two most-wanted Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists slipped away from a fortified natural cave hideout.
The operation began early Sunday following intelligence inputs on Riyaz Ahmad and Mudassar Hazari — active in Kishtwar for eight years and carrying ₹10 lakh bounties each. Intermittent gunfire and explosions echoed through the Dool area, 25 km from Kishtwar town, as forces closed in on the hideout.
Troops stormed the deep cave Monday, finding wood, supplies, and fortified positions, but no sign of the fugitives. Officials believe they escaped deeper into the forest.
More Army reinforcements, including para commandos, along with police, CRPF, and drones, have been deployed to seal escape routes. The last exchange of fire was reported near the cave’s cliffside on Sunday evening.
