Kulgam, Aug 11, 2025 : The Kulgam anti-terror operation entered its 11th day on Monday, with security forces intensifying their push to flush out militants entrenched in natural caves and dense forest cover in the Akhal area.
Officials said the hiding terrorists, highly trained in jungle warfare, are exploiting thick foliage to evade detection, even from drones. Since the encounter began on August 1, two soldiers have been killed and nine injured. Two militants have also been neutralised, though their identity and affiliation remain unconfirmed.
Described as the longest such operation in recent years in Kashmir, the hunt is being monitored round-the-clock by J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat and Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma. Drones and helicopters have been deployed to tighten the cordon and locate the remaining terrorists.
