Jammu, November 20, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday announced that the Jammu & Kashmir Logistics Policy 2025 will be unveiled shortly, marking a significant step toward transforming J&K into a modern trade and logistics powerhouse.
Speaking at the Jammu Trade and Logistics Conclave 2025, organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the LG said Jammu is rapidly rising as a strategic logistics hub, linking Ladakh and Kashmir with major national trade corridors.
The upcoming policy, he said, will introduce a comprehensive logistics framework focusing on:
-
Multimodal connectivity
-
Development of dry ports and warehousing zones
-
Enhanced private sector participation
-
Granting the logistics sector “industry status”, enabling access to industrial policy benefits
Calling logistics the backbone of a self-reliant economy, the LG stressed the need for a robust storage, warehousing, and transport ecosystem to directly connect producers with consumers and support the aspirations of traders, industrialists, farmers, artisans, and MSMEs.
The LG highlighted several major initiatives reshaping the Union Territory’s logistics landscape:
-
Under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (PMGS-NMP), 49 major logistics and connectivity projects worth ₹3,000 crore have been mapped for real-time coordination and rapid execution.
-
A Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Vijaypur, Jammu, will be developed under a PPP model on the DBFOT (Build-Develop-Finance-Operate-Transfer) approach.
-
The upcoming MMLP will include an inland container depot, advanced warehousing, cold storage, a truck terminal, and a container freight station, aimed at lowering logistics costs and boosting operational efficiency.
The LG said the policy and ongoing infrastructure push will make Jammu and Kashmir a competitive, investment-ready destination, improving last-mile connectivity, optimising freight movement, and reducing transit times across sectors.
