Jammu, November 20, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Purmandal on Wednesday to attend the Foundation Day of the Purmandal-Utterbehni Teerth Seva Nyas, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to developing the region into a world-class spiritual destination.
He began his visit by offering prayers at the ancient Shiv Temple, Purmandal, and later participated in the Devika Maha Aarti.
Addressing devotees and dignitaries, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the collective contribution of police personnel, soldiers, farmers, youth, and women in shaping an Aatma-Nirbhar Jammu & Kashmir.
“We should pledge not to let their sacrifices go waste. We must work to turn their dreams into reality,” he said.
Calling Purmandal-Utterbehni a confluence of faith, culture, unity, and diversity, the LG described the region as a sacred space for self-purification and spiritual awakening. He emphasized the significance of the revered Umapati Mahadev Temple, located on the banks of the historic Gupt Ganga Devika, and recognized the area’s centuries-old role in promoting social harmony, community service, and environmental protection.
Responding to demands raised by the Teerth Seva Trust, the LG assured a whole-of-government approach to preserve and enhance the region’s cultural and religious heritage.
Key announcements included:

Identification of government land for a new Ved Vidyalaya, funded by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB).

SMVDSB’s commitment to support a Gurukul, Sanskrit Pathshala, or Ved Pathshala in the region.

Raising with the Central Government the demand for a 4-lane road connectivity to Purmandal.
The LG further noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir has seen a remarkable cultural and infrastructural transformation. He highlighted the restoration of 62 ancient religious and historical sites over the last four years, as part of a broader push to revive the Union Territory’s spiritual heritage and tourism potential.
The Lieutenant Governor praised the efforts of the Purmandal-Utterbehni Teerth Seva Nyas, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and other organisations for preserving and promoting the rich spiritual legacy of the region. He urged social groups and citizens to actively join in protecting the area’s natural and cultural heritage.
The event witnessed the presence of several prominent leaders, including MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, DDC Chairperson Keshav Dutt Sharma, MLA Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, and senior officials from civil and police administration.
