Srinagar, March 3, 2026 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday directed police and civil administration officials to remain on heightened alert and take all necessary measures to maintain peace and tranquillity across Jammu and Kashmir.
The review meeting was held at the Police Control Room in Srinagar, where the LG assessed the prevailing law and order situation with senior officials.
“Chaired a meeting of senior police & civil administration officials at the Police Control Room, Kashmir, to review the law and order situation. Directed the officers to remain on heightened alert and take all necessary measures to ensure public peace and tranquillity,” Sinha said in a post on X.
Appeal for Public Cooperation
The Lieutenant Governor appealed to citizens and community leaders to uphold harmony and ensure a calm atmosphere.
“Preserving peace and sustaining the progress of society is a shared responsibility that rests equally upon each one of us,” he said.
High-Level Security Deliberations
Earlier in the day, the LG held in-depth deliberations on the overall security scenario in the Union Territory. The meeting was attended by DGP Nalin Prabhat, Special DG (Coordination) S.J.M Gillani, ADGP Armed Anand Jain, ADGP CID Nitish Kumar, IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, DIG CKR Rajiv Pandey, and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo, among other senior officials.
Context of the Review
The security review comes amid protests reported in parts of Kashmir and the Jammu region following international developments involving Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining stability and ensuring that peace prevails across the Union Territory.
