Srinagar, September 6, 2025 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday assured a thorough inquiry into the 2000 Chattisinghpora massacre, in which 35 Sikhs were killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in Anantnag.
The assurance came during Sinha’s meeting with a delegation of the 35 Shaheed Singhs Welfare Organisation, led by chairman S Jagjeet Singh, at the Raj Bhavan.
The delegation sought a fresh probe into the massacre and raised multiple demands, including:

Compassionate appointments under SRO-43 for the next of kin.

Parity in benefits with non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits.

Reservation in educational institutions.

Financial support for constructing a memorial at Chattisinghpora.
The LG reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring justice and welfare for terrorism victims. He said the grievances of affected families will be addressed on priority, with compassionate jobs, self-employment support, and financial assistance for the eligible.
The massacre, carried out on March 20, 2000—a day before US President Bill Clinton’s visit to India—remains one of the deadliest attacks on the Sikh community in Kashmir.
