NEW DELHI, Oct 19 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha concluded his visit to the Republic of Kalmykia, Russia, returning to India today with the holy relics of Lord Buddha, after a spiritually enriching week-long exposition (October 11–18, 2025) in Elista.

The sacred relics—acknowledged as a National Treasure of India—were taken to Kalmykia for public exposition aimed at celebrating the shared Buddhist heritage and enhancing India–Russia cultural ties. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in collaboration with the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), National Museum, and Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).

A Historic Spiritual Exchange

At a special ceremony held at the Central Temple, popularly known as “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni”, the Lieutenant Governor addressed monks and devotees, stating that while the holy relics return to India, the spiritual presence of Lord Buddha will continue to guide the seekers of Kalmykia.

“The exposition of holy relics has deepened our spiritual connection. The mindfulness and devotion experienced this week will continue to serve as a source of peace, ideals, and inspiration for generations,” he said.

Calling the event “historic and filled with blessings,” the LG remarked that the exposition brought joy, fulfillment, and a renewed sense of purpose to the devotees in Russia.

A Vision for a Compassionate World

During his address, LG Sinha appealed for the creation of a world rooted in wisdom, justice, and compassion, free from suffering and discrimination.

“We must build a world full of kindness and fairness—a world where humanity lives in harmony with nature. Lord Buddha’s teachings provide the roadmap for such an awakened and peaceful existence,” he emphasized.

India–Russia Cultural Harmony

Highlighting the deep cultural and spiritual bonds between India and Russia, the Lieutenant Governor noted:

“Our relationship is anchored in shared values—peace, compassion, and the spiritual ethos that unites civilizations.”

He further stated that Buddha’s message continues to illuminate humanity, especially in today’s turbulent and fast-paced world.

“His teachings on compassion, non-violence, and purity of mind can bridge divides and foster universal brotherhood. Spiritual salvation is the greatest treasure humanity can achieve—and this is what India, the land of Lord Buddha, has given to the world.”

A Call for Inner Awakening

Concluding his address, LG Sinha urged seekers to embrace self-realization and inner awareness:

“Lord Buddha taught that spiritual experience cannot be borrowed—it must be lived. Be a light unto yourself; the light of truth and awareness lies within.”

The exposition in Kalmykia marks another milestone in India’s cultural diplomacy—strengthening bonds of friendship and carrying the eternal message of peace, compassion, and enlightenment across borders.
