Srinagar, Aug 16, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday reviewed rescue and relief measures in cloudburst-hit Kishtwar and assured that all homes damaged in the flash floods will be rebuilt.
Sinha instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of essentials to affected families.
“Spoke to senior officials and reviewed the ongoing operations at Chasoti, Kishtwar. I will ensure reconstruction of homes damaged in flash floods,” the LG said in a post on X.
The August 14 disaster struck Chasoti village — the last motorable stop en route to Machail Mata temple — around 12:25 pm, leaving 60 people dead and over 100 injured. It swept away a makeshift market, community kitchen site for pilgrims, and a security outpost.
Officials said at least 16 houses, several government buildings, three temples, four water mills, a 30-meter bridge, and over a dozen vehicles were destroyed in the calamity.
