JAMMU, April 9, 2026 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review preparedness for the upcoming 100-day intensive campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, aimed at eliminating drug abuse across the Union Territory.
Mega Campaign Kick-off
The campaign will feature a series of awareness initiatives and public outreach programmes. The LG is set to flag off a mega padyatra from M A Stadium on April 11, followed by another large-scale launch in Srinagar in the first week of May.
He will also participate in padyatras in Kathua and Rajouri to mobilize grassroots support.
“Drug Menace a Larger Conspiracy”
Highlighting the seriousness of the issue, LG Sinha stated that the influx of drugs into Jammu and Kashmir is part of a larger international conspiracy targeting the youth.
“Every section of society must join this fight against the drug menace,” he said.
Strong Action & Rehabilitation Focus
The LG directed authorities to intensify operations against drug trafficking networks, stressing a balanced approach:
- Strict action against culprits
- Protection and rehabilitation of victims
“Don’t touch the innocent and don’t spare the culprit is our policy,” he asserted.
Structured Implementation Plan
Authorities have prepared a detailed department-wise activity calendar for the campaign. UT and divisional-level committees have been constituted to implement the IEC (Information, Education, Communication) strategy and action plan effectively.
Call for Jan Andolan
Emphasizing public participation, the LG urged making the campaign a jan aandolan (people’s movement) by integrating public feedback and encouraging citizens to report drug abuse cases.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Special DG (Coordination) S J M Gillani, Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti, and Principal Secretary to the LG Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari.
