RAJOURI, December 5, 2025 : The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri has initiated strict disciplinary action after a large-scale inspection of nearly 200 government schools revealed serious deficiencies in the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme and academic performance across multiple institutions.
Officials said that 34 schools failed to serve meals as per the approved MDM menu, while 11 schools recorded poor academic performance. Among these, 7 schools were found violating both MDM norms and academic standards, whereas in 2 schools, meals were not cooked at all.
In a strict action against dereliction of duty, two teachers — Farnaz Kouser of Primary School Dhara Pathana and Mohammad Altaf of Primary School Namble Kalyan — have been placed under suspension. Both were found guilty of leaving their schools after marking attendance without informing higher authorities.
Further tightening the noose, the salaries of teachers from 11 underperforming schools have been withheld for December and will remain stopped until noticeable improvement is achieved.
Meanwhile, the staff of all 34 defaulting schools have been directed to submit written explanations within two days. Officials warned that failure to comply will lead to formal disciplinary proceedings under relevant service rules.
The Education Department has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards negligence affecting students’ nutrition and education, stating that accountability will be fixed at every level to protect children’s rights and learning standards.
