Srinagar, Aug 16, 2025 : The Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Bandipora on Saturday suspended Dr. Sabia Salam, Medical Officer, for unauthorised absence from duty and failure to attend the official Independence Day function, calling it “a serious breach of discipline.”
According to the suspension order, Dr. Salam did not report for duty on August 14, 2025, disrupting patient care, and also remained absent on August 15 despite clear instructions to attend the I-Day celebrations.
Her conduct, the order stated, amounted to “disrespect and disregard for a national event” and was “indiscipline unbecoming of a government servant.”
Citing Rule 31 of the J&K Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956, read with Article 128 of the J&K Civil Service Regulations, the superintendent placed her under suspension with immediate effect, pending inquiry.
During suspension, Dr. Salam has been attached to the Head of Department, Ophthalmology, District Hospital Bandipora, and will receive subsistence allowance as per rules.
