Srinagar, September 9, 2025 : PDP President Mehbooba Mufti strongly criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the National Conference for their alleged neglect of South Kashmir, especially in the context of the upcoming AIIMS hospital at Awantipora, Pulwama.
In a post on X, Mehbooba Mufti highlighted that under Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s leadership, South Kashmir witnessed major developments in a short time, including the Islamic University of Science & Technology, a medical college, and the AIIMS itself.
She accused the National Conference of indulging in political favoritism by choosing flood-prone sites in the past and alleged that their criticism of AIIMS’s location reflects indifference toward South Kashmir.
Omar Abdullah, meanwhile, had admitted to a delay in the AIIMS project due to Army concerns over the site’s suitability, causing a year’s setback.
