Srinagar, March 3, 2026 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday criticised the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for what she described as its silence over the recent US-Israel strikes on Iran, alleging that the grouping had “betrayed” the Muslim world.
In a post on X, Mufti said it was disturbing that the OIC remained a “mute spectator” during what she termed blatant aggression against Iran’s sovereignty.
“Its silence on the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader, and its attempt to shift blame onto Iran, is not only alarming but disgraceful,” she stated.
Accusations of Inaction
The former chief minister further alleged that instead of condemning the attacks, the OIC chose silence and indirectly endorsed the actions against Tehran.
“This represents a grave betrayal of the collective conscience and interests of the Muslim Ummah,” she added.
The remarks come in the backdrop of international tensions following reports that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in joint air strikes by the United States and Israel earlier this week.
