Srinagar, October 27, 2025 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Monday urged legislators in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to give top priority to the regularization of nearly one lakh daily wagers, calling it a matter of “dignity and justice.”
In a post on X, Mehbooba highlighted the hardships faced by these workers, many of whom come from marginalized backgrounds. “These workers have been the backbone of several government departments, ensuring smooth public services despite uncertainty over their future,” she wrote.
Stressing the need for unity across party lines, she appealed to all MLAs to work together to resolve the long-pending issue. “It’s crucial that all political representatives and the ruling party collectively address this injustice and secure job stability for these workers,” she said.
The demand for regularization of daily wagers—particularly in PHE, PDD, and other essential departments—has been a persistent issue in J&K, with workers repeatedly protesting for fair wages and long-term employment security.
