Srinagar, March 7, 2026 : President of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, on Saturday appealed to Narendra Modi to intervene and ensure the safe return of students from Jammu and Kashmir who are currently stranded in Iran.
In a post on the social media platform X, the former chief minister said that the situation in Iran is rapidly deteriorating, leaving thousands of students from the Union Territory studying there stranded.
Mufti urged the Prime Minister to take personal intervention to facilitate their safe evacuation.
She also called upon the Ministry of External Affairs and External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to initiate evacuation efforts at the earliest to ensure the students return home safely.
