New Delhi, July 21, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday set a spirited tone for the Monsoon Session of Parliament, calling it a “Vijay Utsav” in the wake of Operation Sindoor, a swift and decisive military strike by Indian armed forces that targeted terrorist camps deep inside Pakistan.
Addressing the media ahead of the session, the PM said the Indian military achieved “100% success” during the operation, launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that shocked the nation and drew global condemnation.
“The Monsoon Session is a Vijay Utsav after Operation Sindoor, in which our forces destroyed terror targets in just 22 minutes using Made-in-India weapons. The world witnessed India’s military might,” the Prime Minister said.
Calling for unity in Parliament, PM Modi urged lawmakers across party lines to speak with one voice in celebrating India’s military achievements. He lauded MPs for their role in “exposing terror-patron Pakistan” during international visits after the operation.
“Parliament must send a message of unity. Many MPs from various parties travelled across the world, spoke in one voice, and exposed Pakistan’s role in supporting terror. I thank them all,” he added.
On National Security and Internal Progress
PM Modi highlighted the government’s successes in combating Left-Wing Extremism, stating that the so-called red corridors were now turning into green growth corridors.
“Today, the Constitution is winning over bombs and guns. Many LWE-affected districts have been freed, and our forces are on the path to full success,” he said.
Economic Progress and Social Development
Reflecting on India’s economic transformation, the Prime Minister said:
-
India has moved from being part of the “fragile five” in 2014 to being on track to become the third-largest economy.
-
Over 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty.
-
Inflation, once in double digits, is now around 2%, offering relief to the common citizen.
-
Digital India and UPI have emerged as symbols of India’s growing digital capabilities.
-
India leads the world in real-time digital transactions.
-
As per the ILO, over 90 crore Indians are now covered under social security.
-
The WHO has declared India Trachoma-free, a significant public health milestone.
On the Pahalgam tragedy, PM Modi said it stunned the world, turning global attention toward the root of terrorism.
“This spirit of unity, beyond political divides, fills the nation with pride. I hope this session becomes a celebration of our national capacity, our brave security forces, and our collective strength,” he said, urging political parties to prioritize national interest over electoral gains.
“We may not align in party interests, but we must unite in national interest,” he concluded.
The PM’s address came even as the Opposition submitted notices in both Houses seeking suspension of regular business to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and US President Donald Trump’s remarks on the issue.
