SRINAGAR, Aug 22,2025 : Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, on Friday supervised a Grassroots Talent Identification Camp for athletics and volleyball at the University of Kashmir during her two-day visit to the Valley.
The Minister had earlier inaugurated the Khelo India Water Sports Festival at Dal Lake on Thursday. The festival, which runs till August 23, features competitions in rowing, canoeing, and kayaking.
At the talent camp, over 150 boys and girls from districts including Pulwama, Budgam, and Ganderbal participated. A team of experts conducted tests such as 20m and 30m sprints, standing vertical jump, medicine ball throw, and the Cooper Test to evaluate physical and athletic abilities.
Khadse interacted with the participants, assuring them of government support and emphasizing pathways for shortlisted athletes to join the Sports Authority of India’s National Centre of Excellence and SAI Training Centres.
“The talent in Kashmir is extraordinary. Our mission is to take athletes from grassroots to glory. This is about creating not just infrastructure but a new generation of champions for India,” she said.
