Srinagar, January 23, 2026 : Kashmir Police chief V K Birdi on Friday said comprehensive, multi-layered security measures have been put in place across the Valley to ensure peaceful and incident-free Republic Day celebrations.
“The main Republic Day functions will be organised in all districts, where chief guests will take the salute during the ceremonies. In Srinagar, the principal function will be held at Bakshi Stadium, which is expected to be attended by police personnel, schoolchildren and members of the public,” IGP Birdi said.
He added that elaborate security arrangements have been strengthened, particularly in Srinagar. “The Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with its security wing and paramilitary forces, have tightened the entire security grid,” he said while speaking to reporters after paying tributes to martyrs at the Balidan Stambh here.
