MUMBAI, November 19, 2025 : Mumbai wrapped up their match in just over half an hour on the final day, beating Puducherry by an innings and 222 runs to finish top of Group D in the Ranji Trophy.
Following on after conceding a massive 498-run first-innings lead, Puducherry added only 45 runs in 8.3 overs on the fourth morning, getting bowled out for 276. Starting the day at 231/6, their resistance was short-lived.
Tushar Deshpande claimed two wickets, while skipper Shardul Thakur and Ayush Mhatre picked one each to close out the game swiftly. Both Deshpande and Thakur finished with five-wicket hauls in the match. Siddhesh Lad and Akash Anand struck centuries in Mumbai’s imposing first-innings total of 630/5 declared.
Mumbai secured seven points, taking their tally to 24 and topping Group D after five matches. Puducherry remained at zero.
J&K Hammer Hyderabad
In Jammu, Abid Mushtaq delivered a sensational performance as Jammu & Kashmir defeated Hyderabad by 472 runs, sealing their third win of the season.
Hyderabad, chasing 472, were bowled out for 190. The star of the match was left-arm spinner Abid Mushtaq, who returned outstanding figures of 7/68, his ninth five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.
Hyderabad began the day at 169/7 and added just 21 runs before losing their remaining wickets in 5.2 overs. Mushtaq took all three wickets that fell in the morning, completing a dominant show.
Jammu & Kashmir earned six points from the victory, while Hyderabad got none.
