Srinagar, October 24, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the NEP Conclave-2025, organized by the Higher Education Department, and lauded the stakeholders for the speedy implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said it was a matter of pride that Jammu and Kashmir is among the first Union Territories in the country to implement the National Education Policy across all Higher Educational Institutions.
“We are building a future-ready academic ecosystem — one that is inclusive, innovative, and impactful. Our aim is to empower every student of Jammu and Kashmir to realize their potential, uphold the spirit of Viksit Bharat @2047, and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s growth story,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.
Focus on Inclusive, Future-Ready Education
LG Sinha emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir is at the forefront of reforming and strengthening the higher education landscape to meet the demands of an evolving world.
“The Artificial Intelligence age, when combined with traditional Indian ideals, will turn the vision of a developed India into reality. The amalgamation of technological advancement and Indian ethos in higher education will address future challenges and drive strong economic growth,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor underlined that the core objective of NEP is to reduce inequality and expand opportunity by ensuring equitable access to quality education.
“The policy encourages a future-focused approach, equipping youth with critical thinking abilities and lifelong learning skills,” he added.
Innovation, Interdisciplinary Learning, and Research Emphasis
Highlighting the academic transformation underway, LG Sinha said that higher educational institutions in J&K have embraced interdisciplinary and project-based learning, moving away from rigid subject silos.
“This shift bridges the gap between the real world and academia, enhancing students’ knowledge, skills, and employability,” he remarked.
The Lieutenant Governor also stressed the need to create a robust monitoring mechanism for research, ensuring that projects are innovative, relevant, and socially impactful.
He called upon all institutions to implement innovative programs such as “Design Your Own Degree” in a time-bound manner and encouraged collaboration and resource sharing among universities and colleges to bring about holistic transformation in the higher education sector.
Conclave Witnesses Participation of Top Academics and Officials
The event saw the presence of Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chairman, Higher Education Council J&K; Shantmanu, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department; Vice Chancellors, senior officials, heads of institutions, faculty members, and students.
The conclave served as a platform for dialogue on policy implementation, innovation, and integration of technology with traditional knowledge systems to shape the future of higher education in Jammu and Kashmir.
