Srinagar, Sep 11, 2025 : Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said India’s new criminal laws mark a historic shift, replacing colonial-era rules after nearly 150 years and strengthening the nation’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.
Speaking at J&K Police Public School Bemina, Sinha emphasized that the laws focus on protecting victims, mandate forensic investigations for serious crimes, and clearly define terrorism as acts threatening national unity and public peace.
“These reforms will cleanse the region of terrorism and strengthen justice and equality,” Sinha said, adding that public awareness campaigns must continue to educate citizens.
The initiative began in 2019 under PM Modi’s directive to review British-era laws, culminating in new legislation aimed at ending imperial oppression and modernizing India’s justice system.
