Srinagar, August 5, 2025 : The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RDD&PR), Jammu and Kashmir, has firmly denied the authenticity of a fake government order circulating on social media, which falsely claims that Panchayat elections will be held post-November 2025.
The forged document, titled “Conduct of Panchayat Elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir – Post November 2025” and bearing Order No. 45-RD&PR of 2025 dated August 5, is completely fabricated, officials confirmed.
“The department has not issued any such order. The State Election Commission alone has the authority to announce the election schedule, and no timeline has been declared yet,” a senior RDD official stated.
The department warned the public against falling for such misinformation and emphasized that creating or sharing fake government notifications is a punishable offence under the IT Act and IPC.
Citizens are advised to trust only official sources for election-related updates. Authorities are initiating strict action against those behind the fake document.
