JAMMU, April 6, 2026 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday distributed appointment letters to 124 candidates from the Jammu division under the rehabilitation assistance scheme, calling on them to serve with dedication, integrity, and compassion.
Support for Families in Difficult Times
Addressing the gathering in Jammu, the Chief Minister said the appointments aim to provide stability and support to families who have faced hardships, urging beneficiaries to uphold the legacy of their loved ones.
“Serve with dedication, integrity and compassion, and carry forward the legacy of service with dignity,” he said.
Not Just Jobs, But Responsibility
Abdullah noted that while government jobs are usually moments of joy, these appointments come after deep personal loss and struggle.
“For you, this has not been just a simple test… you have paid a heavy price,” he said, comparing their journey to challenges beyond competitive exams like IAS or IPS.
Call for Faster Recruitment Process
Highlighting administrative reforms, he stressed the need to speed up issuance of appointment orders in future cases.
“It should not happen that such orders take a long time,” he added.
Focus on Service, Not Politics
The Chief Minister emphasized that the initiative is about public service, not political gain, reaffirming the government’s commitment to people across Jammu and Kashmir.
Advice to New Appointees
Advising the recruits, Abdullah cautioned against shortcuts and encouraged perseverance:
“The satisfaction from overcoming hardships can never be matched by taking the easy route.”
He also acknowledged the challenges faced by people in remote areas and urged appointees to work towards improving grassroots governance and service delivery.
