Srinagar, October 31, 2025 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday declined to comment on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s recent remarks that the absence of statehood cannot be used as an excuse for “underperformance.”
Speaking to reporters, Abdullah said, “First, I would like to see the exact words he has used. If there is a difference between what he stated and what you are saying, it won’t be right for me to comment incorrectly. If he has indeed said that, I’ll respond at the right time.”
Earlier in the day, LG Sinha, during J&K UT Foundation Day celebrations at SKICC, said that the elected government holds full powers and must focus on governance rather than using the statehood issue as a justification for inaction.
Abdullah, who attended the Kashmir Marathon Expo inauguration, praised the initiative for promoting sports and tourism. “It’s encouraging that alongside the marathon, an expo is being held to highlight our handicrafts and tourism potential,” he said.
