New Delhi, Aug 14, 2025 : The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced 1,090 medals for Police, Fire Services, Home Guard & Civil Defence, and Correctional Services personnel on the eve of Independence Day. The honours include 233 Gallantry Medals, 99 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service, and 758 Medals for Meritorious Service.
In the Police category, 226 personnel will receive the Gallantry Medal, 89 the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, and 635 the Medal for Meritorious Service. Jammu and Kashmir bagged the highest number of Gallantry Medals, followed by the CRPF and BSF.
For Fire Services, 62 awards have been announced – including six Gallantry Medals – while Home Guard & Civil Defence personnel will receive one Gallantry Medal and 44 service medals. In Correctional Services, 33 officers will be honoured.
The awards, to be presented during Independence Day celebrations, recognise the courage, dedication, and distinguished service of personnel safeguarding law, order, and public safety across the country.
