Srinagar, October 28, 2025 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday informed the Legislative Assembly that 3,61,146 educated unemployed youth are registered across the Union Territory as of September 2025.
As per official data, the Kashmir Division accounts for 2.08 lakh registrations, while Jammu Division records 1.52 lakh. District-wise, Anantnag (32,298) tops the list, followed by Pulwama (28,671), Srinagar (23,826), Kathua (26,798), and Kulgam (21,446). The lowest unemployment figures were reported from Kishtwar (8,870) and Reasi (12,376) districts.
Out of the total registered youth, 2,33,845 are male and 1,27,301 are female.
The government said that under Mission Youth and Mission YUVA, efforts are underway to create 4.25 lakh job opportunities through the establishment of 1.37 lakh entrepreneurship units, with a focus on self-employment, startups, and skill enhancement.
District Employment and Counselling Centres are also organizing Career Melas and Rozgar Melas to engage and guide youth toward sustainable livelihood avenues.
“Our objective is to transform the energy and education of J&K’s youth into meaningful employment, driving innovation and entrepreneurship across the Union Territory,” the government said.
