Jammu, January 25, 2026 : The Jammu and Kashmir government has honoured 56 individuals for excellence and service across diverse fields, including Adil Hussain Shah, a victim of the Pahalgam terror attack, officials said on Sunday.
Shah, a resident of Hapatnar village in Pahalgam, lost his life on April 22, 2025, while bravely attempting to save tourists during a terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley, in which 25 tourists were killed. He has been posthumously awarded for his courage, receiving a cash award of ₹1 lakh and a citation.
Police Sub-Inspector Nikhil Kumar of Gangyal Police Station was also recognised for bravery and will receive ₹51,000 and a citation.
Media Awards
Among the 12 media persons honoured are PTI Srinagar Bureau Chief Inayat Jehangir and PTI video journalist Somil Abrol (Jammu), along with journalists from leading regional and national outlets.
Lifetime Achievement
Former IAS officer Mohammad Shafi Pandit was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award (posthumously).
