Srinagar, November 2, 2025 : Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty on Sunday expressed heartfelt admiration for the spirit and unity displayed during the second edition of the Kashmir Marathon, calling it a moment of pride for both Kashmir and India.
“People are running for Kashmir and for India — it’s such a beautiful thing,” Shetty said while interacting with media during the event. “The enthusiasm here is infectious. I’m very happy to be part of Marathon 2.0, and I’ll try my best to return every year.”
Reflecting on the event’s positive impact on tourism post the Baisaran incident, Shetty noted that normalcy and vibrancy are returning to the Valley.
“I arrived yesterday and visited Dal Lake and other spots — the atmosphere feels alive again. I see this winter being a beautiful one for Kashmir,” he added.
Shetty predicted greater participation in future editions and highlighted the upcoming winter sports and cricket tournaments, featuring international players like Chris Gayle, as signs of Kashmir’s growing revival.
“It means we are back — and we are back in a big way,” he said.
The actor also emphasized Bollywood’s renewed connection with the Valley.
“Several producers are eager to shoot in Kashmir. Filmmaker Kabir is here, and there’s a new ray of hope with films being made again. We all must do our bit — this is our most beautiful place on Earth.”
Moved by the participation of runners of all ages, Shetty remarked,
“I saw people above 60 running with such energy — they’re young at heart. I’m 65-plus myself, so I can’t call them old!”
Recalling last year’s tourism boom, he expressed hope for another successful season.
“Last year we had 90% hotel occupancy — I hope this winter brings the same magic.”
Concluding with an emotional appeal, he said,
“I pray and request people — come forward, visit, and make this beautiful place your own. Come and experience Kashmir.”
