Jammu, October 27, 2025 : Hundreds of Public Health Engineering (PHE) daily wagers staged a protest in Jammu on Monday, pressing the government to table the committee report on their regularisation during the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Assembly session.
The protest, held by the PHE Employees United Front (Jammu Province) at the Jal Shakti office, was the second major demonstration in five days. Workers raised slogans like “Report ko Assembly mein table karo” and “Daily wagers ko regularise karo”, demanding immediate government action.
Union leader Ravi Hans said, “We have been waiting for the report since September. If the government delays further, we will have no choice but to intensify our protest.” He urged both the ruling and opposition parties to raise the issue collectively in the House.
The committee on regularisation, headed by the Chief Secretary, was constituted in March to examine humanitarian, legal, and financial aspects concerning over 67,000 daily wagers across departments. Its six-month term ended on September 19, but the report is yet to be made public.
Hans recalled that the Omar Abdullah government had announced the committee during the previous Assembly session, promising a roadmap for regularisation in the next budget session.
