Jammu, August 21, 2025 : In a bizarre yet alarming incident, security forces intercepted a pigeon carrying a threat note to blow up the Jammu railway station near the International Border (IB) in RS Pura, sparking heightened security measures across the region.
The bird, suspected to have flown in from Pakistan, was captured in Katmaria village around 9 pm on August 18. Tied to its claws was a chit scribbled in Urdu and English, threatening an IED blast at the railway station with chilling lines like “Kashmir Freedom” and “Time has come.”
Officials said while Pakistan has previously used balloons, flags, and pigeons to send across messages, this is the first known case of a pigeon carrying a direct terror threat. Security agencies are now investigating whether it was a mischief act or part of a larger conspiracy.
Taking no risks, the railway station and adjoining tracks have been sealed under tight security, with dog squads, bomb disposal units, and police patrols on round-the-clock alert.
Experts believe the pigeon could have been specially trained and released from across the border, turning an ordinary bird into a potential courier of terror. “You cannot afford to dismiss such incidents — every lead has to be treated seriously,” a security analyst said.
