Shopian, October 14, 2025 : The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday launched a massive search operation across several areas of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, targeting residences of former Hurriyat activists and individuals linked with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).
According to official sources, the coordinated raids began early morning under a comprehensive security cover and were part of a larger crackdown on elements suspected of involvement in activities prejudicial to national security.
The searches were conducted simultaneously in multiple villages and town areas, with security personnel thoroughly examining documents, mobile devices, and digital storage materials to trace any evidence of unlawful or subversive activities.
A senior police officer said, “These searches are preventive in nature and form part of sustained efforts to maintain peace and order in the region. Intelligence inputs indicated renewed attempts by certain individuals to revive underground networks or circulate propaganda.”
Sources further revealed that individuals under scrutiny have been on the police radar for some time due to their alleged links with separatist or extremist outfits and previous involvement in anti-national campaigns.
Officials confirmed that the operations will continue in other parts of Shopian over the coming days to further reinforce law enforcement efforts and preempt any disturbance to public order.
