Jammu, July 30, 2025 : The Jammu Police on Wednesday initiated proclamation proceedings under Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita against three absconding accused involved in the broad daylight murder of Gataru gang leader Sumit Jandiyal earlier this year.
The proceedings included public drum-beating, announcements, and notice pasting at the residences of the accused, directing them to appear before the court and join the investigation, an official spokesperson said.
The trio has been identified as:
-
Vikas Slathia alias Vicky alias Vicky Khauff – Kingpin of the Khauff gang
-
Vikramjeet Singh – Alleged shooter
-
Bodh Raj alias Guggi
The murder occurred on January 21 at Jewel Chowk, a busy locality in the heart of Jammu city. Ten other accused were earlier arrested in connection with the case, and police recovered four pistols along with other incriminating evidence during the investigation.
The police have appealed to the public to share any information about the absconders with the nearest police station. “Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found harboring or assisting the fugitives,” the spokesperson warned.
Sumit Jandiyal alias Gataru, the slain gang leader, was previously booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and had survived a murder attempt in 2017.
“Jammu Police remains fully committed to bringing all involved to justice and ensuring the safety and security of citizens,” the spokesperson added.
