JAMMU, February 18, 2026 : The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday informed the House that the proposal for construction of a new bridge near Convent School Srinagar and the General Post Office Srinagar is presently under examination with the Public Works Department.
In a written reply to a question raised by Sheikh Ahsan Ahmed, the government said that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared for construction of a VOP/Bridge/Flyover from Convent Road (Joggers Park) to M.A. Link Road via Sherwani Road over the River Jhelum, following requisite feasibility and technical surveys.
The estimated cost of the project is ₹143.89 crore. The DPR has been submitted to the Finance Department Jammu and Kashmir for concurrence.
The government added that further action will be taken after receipt of necessary approvals.
