Jammu, March 22, 2026 : Ahead of the auspicious festival of Navratri, the Indian Railways has launched a special drive at key stations in Jammu and Kashmir, including Jammu Tawi Railway Station and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station, to manage the anticipated surge of यात्रियों (pilgrims).
The initiative aims to ensure smooth travel and enhanced passenger convenience during the peak pilgrimage season, as thousands of devotees head towards the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi Temple.
As part of the drive, railway authorities have intensified crowd management measures, deployed additional staff, and strengthened security arrangements at both stations. Special focus is being laid on regulating queues, facilitating ticketing services, and ensuring hassle-free boarding for passengers.
Officials said extra help desks, announcement systems, and passenger assistance teams have been put in place to guide devotees. Cleanliness drives and better waiting area management are also being emphasized to handle the increased footfall.
The railways have also coordinated with local administration and security agencies to maintain order and ensure safety throughout the Navratri period.
With the annual pilgrimage witnessing massive turnout during Navratri, the proactive measures are expected to significantly ease congestion and enhance the overall travel experience for devotees.
