Jammu, January 26, 2026 : The 77th Republic Day celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir were held with patriotic fervour at the Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu, where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the ceremonial parade on Monday.
Paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters and the architects of the Indian Constitution, the Lieutenant Governor recalled their vision, courage and sacrifices that laid the foundation of a strong, democratic India.
Commending the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, LG Sinha lauded their unwavering vigilance, bravery and sacrifices in maintaining peace and security in the Union Territory.
“Our security forces have shown exemplary commitment and made immense sacrifices to safeguard our freedom,” he said.
Highlighting the roadmap for the future, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the need to steer Jammu and Kashmir towards greater development and prosperity by accelerating economic growth and building robust infrastructure. He underlined that quality education, accessible healthcare and equal opportunities for youth, including women, are essential pillars for the overall progress of the Union Territory.
“Ensuring fair access to education, healthcare and opportunities will enable our youth to realise their full potential and drive J&K’s growth,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor took salute at an impressive parade, which featured smartly turned-out contingents of the Army, CAPFs, J&K Police, J&K Armed Police, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC and schoolchildren. The parade was followed by colourful cultural programmes and drills presented by schoolchildren, showcasing the rich cultural diversity and unity of the region.
The समारोह was attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, judges of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, ministers, Chief Secretary, senior civil and police officers, along with a large number of citizens.
