Srinagar, March 9, 2026 : Educational institutions across the Kashmir Valley reopened on Monday after remaining closed for a week following protests triggered by the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in a reported US-Israel airstrike.
An official said that schools, colleges and universities resumed normal functioning across the Valley on Monday morning.
Students dressed in their school uniforms were seen heading back to their institutions, marking the restoration of normal academic activities in the region.
Educational institutions had been closed since last Monday after protests erupted in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir following the killing of Ali Khamenei on February 28.
While secondary schools and higher educational institutions had earlier resumed classes on February 23 after winter vacations, reopening of middle and primary schools, initially scheduled for March 2, was delayed due to the unrest.
With schools reopening now, regular academic activities have resumed across the Kashmir Valley.
