Anantnag, October 9, 2025 : The search operation to locate two missing soldiers in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir entered its third day on Thursday, officials said. Dense forests, steep terrain, and inclement weather continue to impede rescue efforts.
The missing personnel, both commandos of an elite Para unit, went missing during a combing operation in the Kokernag area on Tuesday. The operation had been launched two days earlier in the Ahlan Gadole region following inputs about the presence of terrorists, officials added.
Sources said the commandos lost contact after their communication line was disrupted, prompting the Army to deploy helicopters for aerial reconnaissance.
The Chinar Corps, in a post on X, said the operational team was caught in a severe snowstorm and whiteout conditions on the night of October 6–7 in the Kishtwar range of South Kashmir.
“Intense search and rescue operations have been launched but are being hampered by adverse weather conditions,” the Army said.
