Jammu, November 5, 2025 : Security forces on Wednesday launched a massive search operation in the border areas of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir after reports of suspicious movement, officials said.
The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the Army and CRPF, initiated the coordinated operation in the Balakote–Mendhar sector, close to the Line of Control (LoC).
Officials said the forces were acting on specific intelligence inputs about suspected movement in the forested and hilly terrain. Troops have been deployed in strategic locations, and intensive searches are underway to track any possible infiltration attempts.
“Security forces are on high alert. Locals have been urged to share any information about suspicious movements in their areas,” an official statement said.
The search follows the recovery of a suspicious drone on Tuesday in the Sakhi Maidan area of Mendhar, triggering security concerns in the border belt.
The border districts of Poonch and Rajouri have witnessed increased surveillance and counter-infiltration operations in recent weeks amid reports of cross-border movement of militants.
