Kathua, January 27, 2026 : At least six persons, including the driver, were injured in a pre-dawn road accident in Kathua district on Tuesday after a speeding private vehicle rammed into a road divider, officials said.
The accident occurred when a car bearing registration number UP16LS762 was travelling from Jammu towards Kathua. Near Mela Mode, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to overspeeding, causing it to crash into the divider with force. The impact left the vehicle badly damaged.
All six occupants sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to Hiranagar Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
Police teams reached the spot soon after the incident, cleared traffic and initiated legal formalities. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Officials have once again appealed to motorists to adhere to traffic rules and avoid overspeeding, especially during early morning hours.
