Srinagar, January 21, 2026 : Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Srinagar Police have significantly intensified security arrangements across the city to ensure peaceful, safe and incident-free events, officials said on Wednesday.
As part of the heightened security plan, additional police personnel have been deployed at key and sensitive locations throughout Srinagar. Special checkpoints and mobile patrol units have been set up across major roads and entry points, where systematic checking of vehicles and verification of individuals is being carried out.
To maintain round-the-clock vigilance, night patrols and surprise inspections have been intensified in vulnerable areas to deter any attempt to disturb public order. Officials said special focus is being laid on monitoring suspicious movements, particularly during late-night hours.
Senior police officers are personally supervising the security arrangements to ensure effective coordination and seamless implementation of the plan on the ground. The police have urged citizens to cooperate during checking and verification drives and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or the Police Control Room.
Authorities reiterated that these preventive measures are aimed solely at safeguarding public safety and ensuring that Republic Day celebrations are conducted smoothly and peacefully.
