Doda, March 8, 2026 : Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Mehta has directed intensified surveillance across Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir to counter potential threats from anti-national elements and ensure public safety.
The directions were issued during a security review meeting chaired by the SSP and attended by Additional Superintendents of Police, supervisory officers, Station House Officers and in-charges of various police posts in the district, according to a spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
During the meeting, Sandeep Mehta stressed the need for heightened vigilance and alertness across the district, including in minority-populated areas. He instructed officers to intensify monitoring, particularly at tourist destinations, religious places, critical installations and other identified sensitive locations.
The SSP directed police units to enhance foot patrolling, long-range and short-range patrols, establish surprise checkpoints at strategic points, and carry out effective area domination to prevent any attempt by anti-national or anti-social elements to disrupt peace.
He also emphasised the importance of people-friendly policing, urging officers to remain proactive in building public trust while simultaneously working to eliminate the remnants of the terror ecosystem through sustained vigilance and monitoring of suspected associates.
In addition, the SSP instructed officers to take strict action against offenders involved in cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) and to curb activities such as bovine smuggling. He further directed that property attachment proceedings be initiated against habitual offenders involved in criminal activities.
Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace, security and law and order in the hilly district.
