Nineteen of the 75 projects were for J&K; and the Mohura-Bazz road was one of the most important of these 19 projects.
According to a statement issued today, the Mohura-Bazz Road — which has been completed by the Border Roads Organisation — takes off from Mohura, and has been completed at a cost of over Rs 74 crore. Its total length is 39.27 km and width is 7.45 m. “This road is strategically important both for the Army and the civil administration as it will serve as the only available line of communication to the forward sector and far-flung areas near the LoC,” read the statement.
It is pertinent to mention here that the rush of vehicles on this road has increased manifold during the recent years. Additionally, as the alignment of the road runs mostly in hilly/steep terrain and hill road in high altitude area, it is susceptible to landslides and extremely heavy snowfall.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said, “In the last few years, the road infrastructure and connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in areas of strategic importance have been transformed. This reflects the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards inclusive and equitable development across J&K and ensuring connectivity till the last mile.”
He said that the much-awaited road and bridge projects inaugurated today will have a positive impact on the border tourism. Besides, these will lead to the creation of employment opportunities, bringing economic prosperity and enhancing quality of life in forward areas. These projects would improve operational capacity of the Indian Army and boost mobility and logistics support for the troops, he added.
