JAMMU, July 30, 2025 : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday apprehended a terror associate at the TCP Naka on Nagrota Bypass and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Azan Hameed Gazi, son of Abdul Hameed Gazi, a resident of Hilalabad, Qamarwari in Srinagar. According to police, he was travelling from Jammu to Srinagar in a Toyota Etios (Registration No. HR38Z/2066) when he was intercepted.
During the vehicle search, police recovered three pistols, three empty magazines, eight live cartridges, and two empty cartridges concealed in a handbag beneath the co-driver’s seat. The accused failed to provide any valid documents for the seized arms.
The vehicle has been impounded and a case has been registered at Police Station Nagrota under FIR No. 170/2025, invoking Section 3/25 of the Arms Act. Gazi has been taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine the source and intended destination of the weapons.
In a related development, security forces launched a search operation in Chabba Chak, Rampur, and nearby areas of Rajbagh sector in Kathua district following reports of suspicious movement. Two individuals dressed in black and carrying backpacks were seen near the Ujh river late Tuesday night. The search operation is underway, and further details are awaited.
