Jammu, November 3, 2025 : National Conference president and former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Monday said the revival of the ‘Darbar Move’ has proved that “those who wanted to divide Jammu and Kashmir have failed.”
Speaking to reporters as the Civil Secretariat reopened in Jammu, Abdullah said the Union Territory stands united and must now focus on peace and development.
“Those who wanted to separate Jammu and Kashmir have failed today. We are one — and together we shall rebuild this land,” he asserted.
Taking a swipe at the BJP, Abdullah said those politicising the issue should “leave politics and work for people’s welfare instead.” He expressed hope that Jammu will gain maximum benefit from the Secretariat’s return, calling it a “big step” in strengthening emotional and administrative ties.
“This state has risen from wars and destructions. It’s time to rebuild and move forward,” he said, extending gratitude to the Chamber of Commerce and the people of Jammu for their warm welcome.
Describing the tradition as a symbol of unity initiated by Maharaja Hari Singh, Abdullah said the Darbar Move represents oneness beyond religion and language.
He added that the long-standing public demand has now been met and voiced confidence that other issues will also be addressed “within the next four years.”
On the upcoming November 11 assembly bypolls, the NC president said his party was optimistic:
“Everyone hopes for good elections — and we too hope they will be better for us.”
