Kathua, October 9, 2025 : Police arrested three gangsters after a brief encounter in Lakhanpur area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Wednesday, officials said.
The accused, who were travelling on a motorcycle from the Punjab border side, opened fire when a police team signalled them to stop for checking. Police retaliated with warning shots and chased the suspects, who lost control of their motorcycle and crashed into a roadside electricity pole near Kidian Ghadiyal bridge, officials said.
The trio sustained injuries and were later shifted to Government Medical College Hospital, Kathua for treatment.
One of the arrested men, identified as Murad Ali, is reportedly wanted in four criminal cases in Kathua district, officials added.
