Jammu, October 16, 2025 : Authorities on Wednesday conducted controlled blasts to remove three massive boulders obstructing the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), as part of an ongoing road-widening project aimed at improving traffic flow.

Divisional Transportation Inspector Vinay Gupta confirmed that the National Highway Company executed the blasts between Jakhani and Sharika Temple, clearing the way for smoother vehicular movement.

“Three big boulders had to be removed from the road. The operation will help increase traffic speed, and the stretch may soon operate on a double lane,” Gupta said.

He also urged commuters to strictly follow traffic advisories to prevent congestion during the widening process.

“If people follow traffic rules, there will be no jams,” he added.
