SRINAGAR, July 28, 2025 : Three unidentified terrorists were gunned down in a fierce encounter with security forces in the Harwan forests near Dachigam, officials confirmed on Monday.
“Three terrorists have been neutralised in an intense firefight. Operation continues,” the Army’s Chinar Corps posted on X.
The identities and affiliations of the slain militants are yet to be established.
The gunfight erupted during a search operation launched in the Mulnar area of Harwan following intelligence inputs suggesting militant movement. Security forces had been tracking suspects possibly linked to the deadly April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives.
Two rounds of gunfire were initially heard as troops combed the area. Reinforcements were quickly deployed, leading to a brief but intense firefight that resulted in the elimination of the three militants.
It remains unclear whether the neutralised terrorists were involved in the Pahalgam attack.
